VU Amsterdam promotes o pen science globally and integrates its values into practice. From 16 -20 June 2025, we host Open Science Week. VU staff, students, and par tners from Asia, Africa, and Europe are invited to share experiences, inspiration, and examples of open science from the Netherlands and b eyond!
At Open Science Week, we will discuss the four key p illars of open science: open scientific knowledge, open science infra structures, open engagement of societal actors, and open dialogue wit h other knowledge systems (). The week will kick off on 16th June with inspiration and co-ideation sessions among open science project s funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
We in vite all VU staff and students, as well as international delegates fr om partner universities (including AURORA universities), to join the events on the 16th - 20th of June. During these days, we will engage in discussions on topics such as citizen science, Science Shop 2.0, k nowledge equity in science, and the engagement of societal actors in research and education, among others.
As part of the A URORA in ACTION event on 18-19 June, we’ll bring together repre sentatives from AURORA universities to showcase their commitment to s ocietal impact and engage with local stakeholders, including resident s, community partners, and policymakers. This event serves as a platf orm for co-creating solutions to global challenges, emphasizing susta inability and the societal role of higher education.
