Margrethe Jonkman, President of th e Executive Board of VU Amsterdam, will kick off the event. After thi s, in five short talks, each lasting 15 minutes, we will showcase VU- startups that have grown from deep scientific expertise to successful enterprises.

They leverage sta te-of-the-art machine learning techniques developed in academic resea rch and bring them to practical applications. CEO & co-founder Pr of. Sandjai Bhulai discusses how new developments in research can cre ate new personalized services in industry  

T ONOS Care offers innovative and intelligent solutions to opt imize staff scheduling and capacity planning in long-term care settin gs. They address workforce challenges, enhance operational efficiency , and ultimately improve patient care. Founding partner, René Bekker , also an associate professor at VU, will share his insights on their impactful work. 
 
Pon-Lensor is pa rt of Pon, a startup specializing in automated vehicle damage inspect ions using artificial intelligence. They aim to enhance efficiency an d transparency in fleet management and car rental operations. Alumnus Robin Ruitenbeek, CTO & co-founder, will share his entrepreneuri al journey, the challenges and successes of scaling a tech startup re shaping the automotive industry.  

Python Lib raries: Leon Lan, a fourth-year PhD candidate in Operat ions Research at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, is the developer of Py VRP and PyJobShop, two open-source Python libraries that are transfor ming how we approach routing and scheduling challenges. Leon will sha re his journey in building these tools to solve complex logistics and manufacturing problems. 

Getting to know each other bett er 

We are also celebrating the 35th anniversary of one o f our programmes, Business Analytics. Therefore, the event will have a festive touch, including a pub quiz with questions about the histor y of all the programmes present this afternoon. Alessandro Zocca will give a sneak peek of our new Lifetime Development programm e at the Beta Faculty. We will close the meeting by raising a glass w ith peers and old acquaintances, in celebration of many more years of our programmes.
