, published by Ivey Publishing, is the result of a research collaboration between the KIN Center for Digital Innovation and Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). It is one of the first executive teaching cases that unpacks the complexities of reconfiguring work and organizations for successful AI implementation.
Yasser Rahrovani (Ivey Business School, Western University), (KIN Center for Digital Innovation, VU Amsterdam) and Willem Grootjans (Radiology Department, LUMC) followed the radiology department’s pioneering efforts to integrate AI into clinical workflows—a journey that began in 2018. Over six years, multiple AI initiatives were launched, many of which became part of daily operations. This case explores the opportunities and challenges of scaling AI-driven healthcare transformation in a complex academic medical environment.
