Whether you want to become a data scientist, software engineer, computer scientist or consultant: the opportunities are endless. It is also a possibility to continue doing research or work at an educational institution.

A Master鈥檚 in Artificial Intelligence will give you an excellent foundation in both the business world and research. Your future employer could be anything from a management consultancy to a tech start-up.

'The idea that computers somehow could replace people, is not only socially undesirable, it is also incorrect. Because computer intelligence and human intelligence are very different. Computers have perfect memory, they can spot patterns that humans could never detect. While humans are exquisite collaborateurs, they know about eachothers knowledge and goals. So why would we build computers that would replace people if we could also collaborate.'

What can you do after your Master's degree?

Start working

Almost all organisations, from corporations to consultancies, are looking for qualified computer scientists and data scientists with an education in AI. You will also be well qualified to work for a small, dynamic start-up company. Our graduates have found positions at publishing and analytics firms like Elsevier, multi-national electronics corporations like Philips, research organisations like TNO, and healthcare companies like ChipSoft, to mention just a few. You could become an Applications Developer for a technology start-up, or a Knowledge Manager or Information Analyst at a company or healthcare institution.

AI experts form an essential bridge between technology and society. You will have the skills to analyse problems, understand the need from a human perspective, and translate those into a project plan.

Or pursue an academic career

Some graduates decide to apply for a PhD position, which can lead to a career in business or research. Some of our recent PhD graduates now work as researchers or engineers at companies like Google or Amazon. Others have embarked on academic careers, either at VU Amsterdam or other prestigious universities.
